Saturday Night Media Party

Elitch Gardens was the site for a welcoming party for the media, and it was like nothing I've ever seen for reporters. Appetizers, beverages, and most amusement rides were free, and we were treated to a short fireworks show. After routinely being pushed around, ignored unless someone wants some attention, and placed behind risers or left out entirely in this profession, it was a pleasant switch.

Denver's mass transit system is clean, quick, and all the employees went out of their way to explain what buses/trains I should use and how to find the fastest and least expensive routes everywhere. I hope the rest of my travels around Denver are as easy!

Who did I see at the media party? Michael Koolidge (of the syndicated Michael Koolidge Show), John Patterson (Daily Herald), Amanda Vinicky (Illinois Public Radio), and some of their colleagues. It was nice to see familiar faces.

BTW... seeing the mountains as we traveled from the airport to Denver was breathtaking. I can't wait to see the view on a clear day, and perhaps Lee Milner and I can get closer to the mountains and can provide photos. Don't see anything like this in Illinois!

I can't believe you're being treated like royalty out there. They must want something out of you. Haha. Have fun and tell Barack not to forget the little people. Tell Amanda I said HI!!! -Your former intern, Christine
